Edcamps are the hottest new trend in professional development.  But what exactly IS an Edcamp you may be wondering?

Edcamps are not a conference. In fact, Edcamps are an UNconference where sessions are led by participants for participants. And one of the best parts about an EdCamp? It's free!

Since sessions are determined by participants on the day of the Edcamp, attendees have a great deal of freedom to cultivate a day of PD that will benefit them most.  Do you want to know more about how to use social media to positively impact your classroom? Ask for a session on it! What about how to use technology to formatively assess students? Or how to engage the disengaged learner? Request a session on it. Are you seeking new ideas to bring a global view of the world to your students? Or looking for ways to strengthen collaboration among peers? You can learn and discuss all this plus more while also growing your professional learning network at an EdCamp. Edcamps are a win/win for all participants.

Are you hesitant that you might be the only teacher from your grade level or discipline attending? Bring a colleague (or two or three, even).  You'll leave with an array of new ideas, new professional contacts, new resources, and maybe, just maybe some prizes!
